Anatomy of an Implant
A dental implant may replace a single tooth, several teeth or a full set of teeth. Implants are composed of three parts.
- The titanium implant that fuses with the jawbone.
- The abutment, which fits over the portion of the implant that is above the gum line.
- The crown, which is created by a restorative dentist and fitted onto the abutment for a natural appearance.
If you are missing several teeth in the same area of you mouth, you may still enjoy the confidence and lifestyle benefits that come with dental implants. Your surgeon will place two or more implants that will hold several replacement teeth, may prevent bone loss and proved you with improved function.
