Dental Implants can provide you with a brand-new smile while helping to maintain your facial contours and promote better oral health. Whether you need to replace one tooth or multiple teeth, Dr. Goth and his team at GPC Oral Surgery are here to help! Below we have outlined the steps in the process for our dental implant procedure.

ATTEND A CONSULTATION

Before you can begin the dental implant procedure, you will need to attend a consultation to determine whether or not you are a candidate. Your mouth will be thoroughly examined, and your medical and dental history will be reviewed. We will also perform a CBCT scan, which uses a special type of technology to produce a 3-D image of dental structures, soft tissues, nerve paths and bone of your face and head, to determine whether you are a candidate dental implants.

PRE-PROCEDURE EXAMINATION

Once it is determined that you are a candidate for dental implants, you will meet with Dr. Goth who will finalize your treatment plan and begin to prepare everything that is needed for your procedure. Once this exam is completed, you will schedule your procedure which will be performed in-office in a hospital-style operating suite.

DENTAL IMPLANT PROCEDURE

Dr. Goth will perform the implant surgery, initial tooth extractions, and bone grafting if needed. When you leave your procedure, you will go home with a temporary set of teeth/dentures made by your restorative dentist, while your implants gradually bond to your jawbone. While this integration occurs, your new, permanent replacement teeth will be formed and fitted by your restorative dentist.

POST PROCEDURE CHECKUPS

Keep in mind that your dental implant surgery will have a recovery time. Most patients are typically on a soft foods diet for the first three to six months after the implants are put in place before the second phase of placing the posts and artificial teeth. The entire procedure takes roughly six to eight months to complete. During this time, it is vital to attend our regular checkups to ensure you are healing correctly.

RECEIVE YOUR PERMANENT REPLACEMENT TEETH

The final step of your dental implant procedure is to receive your replacement teeth. Once your mouth has finished healing, and your implants have stabilized, your new, permanent teeth will be put in place.
